A party game built to keep friends laughing from far apart
In 2020 two friends, Dylan and Nico, found themselves in different cities with the same problem: the game nights that used to hold their group together had stopped, and video calls alone weren't cutting it. They wanted the feel of a fill-in-the-blank card game — the reveal, the votes, the one caption that makes the whole table lose it — but playable from a phone, with nothing to install and no one having to own the box.
The first version was a weekend project shared with a dozen friends. It turned out that the format works even better online than around a table: everyone sees the same GIF at the same moment, captions are revealed together, and voting is anonymous, so the shy player at the back of the room wins as often as the loud one.
If you've played Cards Against Humanity or What Do You Meme, the loop will feel familiar — but there are a few deliberate differences:
Every GIF and caption in the official deck was chosen by hand. We add new ones weekly, retire the ones players rate poorly, and promote the best player-written captions into the deck — which means a growing share of the cards you're dealt were written by other players in rooms just like yours. If you've ever played a caption and thought "who wrote that?", the answer is probably someone at a party in another country.
Someone makes a room and drops the link in the group chat. Within a minute there are six names in the lobby, two of them already arguing in the chat box. The first GIF appears — a dog slowly sliding off a sofa — and thirty-five seconds later six captions land at once. The votes go to the one that references the host's actual dog. Four rounds later the quiet cousin who never speaks is in the lead, the final round is doubled, and everybody suddenly cares very much about a GIF of a raccoon. That's the whole product.
The game stays free and stays simple. What changes is the content and the polish: more GIFs, better captions, quicker rounds, fewer ways to get lost. The Discord is where most feature ideas come from, and the newsletter at the bottom of every page is where we announce what shipped.
